Genesis 1:1 IN the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
This opening verse of Genesis sets the foundation for our understanding of the world and our place in it. The book of Genesis reveals the beginnings of many things. There are three prevailing thoughts about the universe’s origin: that it happened by chance, that God used evolution, or that an eternal God created everything.
Only the Biblical account provides a logical explanation for our origins. The Bible clearly states that God created the world in six days and rested on the seventh. As Psalm 19:1-2 declares, “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth his handiwork.” Men would better focus on their eternal future rather than where they came from. John 3:16 offers us hope:
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
