Marriage

In Genesis 2:18, we find a profound truth about the purpose of marriage:

Genesis 2:18 And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.

This verse sets the stage for understanding the divine design of marriage. Marriage is unique among human relationships, as it binds two people together in a covenant of love. Adam needed a helper, and God created Eve from his side, symbolizing equality and partnership. They were to work together, each fulfilling their God-given roles, with the husband as the head and the wife as his helper.

Ephesians 5:22-25 provides further guidance: wives are to submit to their husbands as to the Lord, and husbands are to love their wives as Christ loved the church. This mutual respect and love are essential for a harmonious marriage. Unfortunately, the relationship suffers when spouses focus more on each other’s shortcomings than on their own biblical responsibilities.

The sanctity of marriage is crucial for the well-being of the family and, by extension, society. When the family unit functions as God intended, it becomes a strong foundation for the community. Husbands are called to lead their families in righteousness, setting an example in word and deed.

Let us honor this sacred bond and strive to fulfill our roles with love and humility, always keeping God at the center of our marriages.
