Luke 2:13–14 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 14 Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, Good will toward men.
In Luke 2:13-14, the angels announced, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.” Yet, as we look around, history seems filled with strife and conflict. Did the angels lie? Certainly not. Jesus, the Prince of Peace, offers a peace that transcends worldly understanding.
Isaiah 9:6 calls Jesus the “Prince of Peace,” and in John 14:27, Jesus promises, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” This peace is different from the temporary ceasefires and treaties of the world. It is a deep, abiding peace that comes from trusting in God.
The Apostle Paul exemplified this peace. Despite imprisonment, Paul wrote letters filled with grace and peace, encouraging believers to rejoice and be content.
In a world full of turmoil, we can find true peace by turning to Jesus and trusting His promises. Let us not be troubled or afraid, but instead, bring our cares to God with thanksgiving and experience the peace that only He can provide.
